And so it ends?..
Well, I was there at the end, in the CloudCity chatroom along with several friends, when the screen turned the grey colour of the new vines at 8:17pm British Summer Time.
This was definitely a case of going out with a whimper rather than a bang, but I had something prepared ? a bonfire in the back garden. And what a beautiful fire it produced! A far more fitting end for the most special place I have ever found (and may ever find) on the internet.
And so I stood, cider in hand, as I watched the funeral pyre of the once glorious SciFiSites. At 8:35 the bells of the local church started to ring, and continued until the flames grew so dim as to force me indoors from the cold night air.
So, how did it end for me?

In fire ? with music playing in the background. I think perhaps that JMS would have been proud.

Well, gave Vines2 a chance today for gramming purposes or chat, since a couple people can't use any other software for gramming or chatting due to their firewalls. Slower than M__o__l__a__s__s__e__s. MAybe it's due to the rerouting and closing of V1, but at the moment gramming through email would be quicker. Maybe Monday I'll try again to see if it's changed. I was under the impression that performance was supposed to be better at V2 and geared towards heavy traffic. Well 33 people onVine should not be considered heavy enough traffic to bring it to it's knees. Like I said it may be better in a couple of days. But it's horrible at the moment. Then when I finally gave up, the darned thing wouldn't let me logout. I musta pushed logout 6 times before I gave up and just closed the People panel.
